Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about working with me, pricing, timelines, and what to expect from an AI project.

How much does an AI project cost?+

Simple workflow automation typically costs £2,000-£5,000. AI-powered tools with custom models run £5,000-£15,000. Complex, multi-system projects start at £15,000+. I give a fixed quote after an initial discovery call, so there are no surprises. See my full pricing breakdown.

How long does a typical project take?+

Most projects deliver a working MVP in 2-4 weeks. More complex builds take 6-8 weeks. I work in weekly sprints with a demo at the end of each week, so you see progress from day one.

Do I need a lot of data to use AI?+

Not always. Rules-based automation needs no training data at all. For machine learning models, I typically need a few hundred labelled examples to get started. And if your data is messy (it always is), I handle the cleaning. Read more about building AI with messy data.

What industries do you work with?+

I work with small and mid-size businesses across sectors: e-commerce, legal, accounting, logistics, SaaS, and professional services. The common thread is repetitive operational work that costs time and money.

Can you integrate with our existing tools?+

Yes. I build systems that connect to the tools you already use: Shopify, Xero, QuickBooks, Zendesk, Slack, HubSpot, Google Workspace, and custom internal systems. If it has an API, I can integrate with it.

What happens after the project is delivered?+

I include 30 days of post-launch support with every project. After that, I offer ongoing maintenance plans (typically 15-25% of the build cost annually) for monitoring, retraining, and improvements. Read about what happens after the MVP ships.

Do you offer a free consultation?+

Yes. The initial call is free and takes about 30 minutes. I will ask about your current processes, where the bottlenecks are, and whether AI is the right fit. No pitch, no pressure. If it is not a good fit, I will tell you. Book a call here.

What is your tech stack?+

Python for AI and automation backends. Next.js or React for web interfaces. PostgreSQL for data storage. I deploy to AWS, Vercel, or your preferred cloud provider. The stack depends on the project, not the other way around.

How do you handle data privacy and security?+

All projects follow GDPR requirements. Client data is processed within the UK/EU unless you explicitly agree otherwise. I use encrypted storage, secure API connections, and principle-of-least-privilege access controls. For sensitive industries (legal, healthcare), I can work within your existing compliance framework.

What if the AI does not work as expected?+

Every project includes clear success criteria defined before work begins. If the system does not meet those criteria, I fix it at no extra cost. AI projects are iterative by nature, and the feedback loop after launch is where the real improvement happens.

Do you work with businesses outside the UK?+

Yes. I work with clients across the UK, Europe, and internationally. All work is remote, and I adjust meeting times for different time zones. Pricing is quoted in GBP but I can invoice in other currencies.

How is AI different from regular software development?+

AI projects are probabilistic, not deterministic. They need data before code, different testing approaches (accuracy metrics, not just unit tests), and ongoing maintenance after launch. I wrote a detailed comparison covering the key differences.
